Integrity and Professionalism as Core Values

Integrity and Professionalism as Core Values

It’s no secret that at Mid-Land Enterprises we are guided by our core values. We incorporate discussion about these core values in each team meeting. We share them with prospective and existing clients. We hire with these principles in mind and we use them as the basis to recognize and reward our team for a job well done.

So, continuing with our series of blogs about our core values, here we will discuss two more of our values: Integrity and Professionalism.

Integrity is defined in our core values as “the quality of being honest and having strong moral principles that unify us as an undivided team”.

This means that every task, every conversation, and every learning opportunity is met with honesty and the desire to do what is right. It is only through the individual integrity of each employee that we are able to uphold our reputation of being a business that has integrity.

Integrity in the workplace is essential to Mid-Land. It creates a positive culture of open communication and gives us a strong moral guideline for all of our decisions. When you have integrity, you will gain trust and respect from the people around you. Simply put, organizations known for their integrity perform better.

What type of customer wants to deal with an organization that doesn’t uphold their word? You probably know the answer.

Smart customers do business with organizations that can be trusted to follow through on agreements and whose employees have character.

At Mid-Land we define professionalism as “the quality of how we show up to exceed standards, not only to produce greater efficiencies in our work but also greater participation with our community”. Professionalism has a very vast definition. It is not to say that every employee must be a master of their craft. We believe that level of professionalism can be taught and understood over time. The professionalism we expect from our team is a collection of traits that put together make up an exceptional employee, and in turn, a successful company. These traits include reliability, competence, dependability, respect, and the last core value we discussed – integrity.

When these traits come together they create something that is undeniably recognizable. Mid-Land expects this level of professionalism from all of our employees. We put a lot of stock in hiring the right employees and training them to not only do their jobs well but to demonstrate this core value in their work and at home. When we practice professionalism on the job it is passed to our customers and ultimately, our community.

Catching up with Jay again, he told us that he sees professionalism in his employees “in their personal appearance at work, the level of customer service that they provide to our clients, and their commitment to wearing the proper personal protective equipment while on the job.”
